Among Baschieri & Pellagri’s new products for 2026, there are several exciting additions for both hunting and clay shooting. Let’s take a closer look in this article.
From a technical standpoint in the hunting segment, we have three noteworthy innovations: two 12/70 shotshells that are ballistically very different from each other, yet both highly appealing from a hunting perspective. They are extremely versatile and multi-purpose loads, long requested by our customers and, as is increasingly the case, specifically developed with a strong focus on the many forms of hunting the now ubiquitous wood pigeon, one of the most important game species in today’s Italian hunting scene and, in many cases, internationally as well.
Finally, there is a heavy 20-gauge slug, a product often requested by enthusiasts of collective wild boar hunting who favor smoothbore shotguns, particularly in smaller gauges.
BIG GAME PALLA B&P 20 gauge slug
In 2026, the wild boar hunting scene will welcome a powerful 20-gauge slug shotshell, classified as a “heavy slug” and approved as an HP (High Performance) 20/70 load.
This new shotshell features a rounded-nose projectile in the “B&P Big Game” style, weighing 28 grams and reaching approximately 1509 fps (460 m/s), delivering 300 kgm of energy, remarkable and uncommon for this smaller gauge.
From a dynamic standpoint, we have achieved a significant increase in impact force and penetration. In short, this is a high-performance and highly effective ballistic solution in a sub-gauge, greatly improving terminal performance and stopping power even on large animals. This is achieved through a carefully engineered and progressive energy transfer deep into the target, enhancing immediate stopping effect.
The shotshell also demonstrates good accuracy, producing tight groupings of just a few centimeters at 20–25 meters. It is suitable for use in HP-certified shotguns (tested at 1370 bar). The finned, hollow slug can also be safely used in barrels with tight chokes, although we recommend a wide choke to get the best results.
The new 20-gauge Heavy Slug will be available from early autumn.

The SEMI MAGNUM 40 Short Range
In 12 gauge, a long-awaited and frequently requested product has finally arrived: a baby magnum with a bior wad—in short, a SEMI MAGNUM 40 Short Range.
This ballistic choice is based on a heavy shot charge combined with a wad without a shot cup, producing dense yet wider patterns than standard loads already at medium range.
After careful consideration, this approach proves to be the most practical and effective way to facilitate shooting while maintaining high performance up to 35–40 meters. This solution will be extremely useful across various hunting scenarios and game species.
Among the most persistent in requesting this load were wood pigeon hunters shooting over stubble fields or sunflower crops. It is particularly effective late in the morning, when early shots have already made local birds more wary, or during the late winter months when expecting perfectly decoying birds becomes unrealistic.
At the same time, this generous 40 grams loading is also a “hidden gem” for hunters shooting from fixed stands in regions such as Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, and Romagna.
We are confident that a well-designed short-range semi-magnum with No. 4 or 5 shot will also be highly appreciated by hare hunters and those pursuing black grouse.

The GP Universal Extra HP 34 grams
Rounding out the 2026 lineup is the GP Universal Extra HP, a direct evolution of last year’s “Nike Extra HP. The new version features a 34 grams shot loading instead of 35 grams and is designed as a truly versatile shotshell.
The unique feature of this shotshell is the loading with our Universal wad. A bidirectional wad without a shot cup, it produces generous patterns even at close range, ensuring maximum effectiveness in the most dynamic hunting scenarios.
Much like its predecessor, the Nike Extra HP, it boasts excellent power and remains reliable through cold and damp months, thanks to its significant reserve of energy and pressure. It can be successfully used for everything from upland game to the most demanding large migratory species, as well as for ducks hunted with decoys away from wetlands, corvids, and even hares, especially when using a lightweight side-by-side or over-and-under shotgun.
